Repertoire
Inspired by the musical and filmic personas of the Jazz Age, Meredith Miller embodies a series of tragic characters trapped in vignettes that enact our self-destuctive tendencies within the context of iconic love songs. The twelve short acts described below explore female performance identities from a bygone era of the Jazz Age Stage and the Golden Age of Hollywood. Miller performs cabaret and vaudeville with a twist; her re-inventions and re-interpretations of classic routines and tropes invite audiences into an alluring and voyeuristic world. Featured music includes, variously, recorded and live performances of songs by artists such as Friedrich Hollaender, Fred Rose, Kurt Weill, and Tom Musick.
