Dance with the Devil

An original choreography of this classic vaudevillian illusion of seduction, inspired by a vintage vaudeville short film. This was one of Miller’s first acts and remains one of her greatest hits. Featuring a hand-made devil “puppet”, she create a truly uncanny illusion of being two people at once. Steamy and sultry, but still classy, this act is well suited to both burlesque and “fine art” crowds. (It passed the Celebrity Panel Round of America’s Got Talent.) Originally created for The Backyard Variety Show at The HotHouse, Miller has performed it at numerous events including opening for The Dresden Dolls at The Metro, Gurlesque Burlesque (featuring Margaret Cho), at Links Hall (Rustbelt Revival, curated by Holly Hughes), Open Eye Figure Theatre in Minneapolis, Girly-Q Variety Hour, Northwestern University, Columbia College, Democracy Burlesque at Mary’s Attic, on tour in Portland, Madison, Dublin, Berlin, and Wales, as well as winning over an unlikely hip-hop crowd at opening for the Retar Crew at The Double Door. Works in a variety of venues, including small salons and large rock clubs. Duration: three minutes.
